1955 Joel and Mary Ferris Residence | Architect: Bruce Walker | Landscape Architect: Lawrence Halprin | Spokane, WA

Both Bruce Walker and Lawrence Halprin studied at Harvard under Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius. Thanks to the efforts of the Ferris siblings, the property received landmark status from the Spokane Register of Historic Places in September 2012. They are also working to gain national landmark status for the entire property as well.

Edward Fickett (1916-99) was an American architect who was a consultant to federal and local governments in the United States and to President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He is perhaps best known for the more than 60,000 homes of his design, known as “Fickett Houses.” He was also known as the “Architect to the Stars”, having designed magnificent estates for the Hollywood glitterati. He was also nicknamed the King of the Tennis Courts, having been the first architect to design cantilever tennis courts. - wiki
